One thing about planning a wedding is making sure that you put the right entertainment in at the right time throughout the day. One form of entertainment that works at any point of the day is close-up wedding Magic. The reason Steven`s award winning magic works well is because it requires no stage, no sound and no fancy lighting this is because Steven will be mingling among your guests helping break the ice, put a smile on everyone’s face, setting the tone for the day and making your magical day one to remember for years to come.
There are a number of times Steven can entertain throughout your wedding. The only time where Steven can`t entertain is when there is a lot of loud music (there is an alternative if you do plan to have loud music, find out what this is by getting in touch). However from Steven`s previous experience, the most effective times to have a display of close-up magic at a wedding are as follows:
– Whilst the photos are being taken
The Photographs are traditionally taken immediately after the ceremony. Many guests are not involved with the majority of the photos, and this can often mean a couple of hours of dead time before the meal where people have nothing to do. This makes for an ideal time for Steven to perform!
From Stevens previous experience he has found that one venue this works well at is The Savoy Park in Ayr, especially on a lovely sunny summer’s day. The reason for this is because the guests will be hanging around the bar area (the room shaped like the letter L) or hanging around in the garden outside. Waiting for the top table to be seated for the meal.
Whilst the photos are being taken, Steven will mingle amongst the guests and perform some close-up magic designed to break the ice, keep them entertained and put them at ease whilst the bride and groom are taken away for the all-important wedding photos. This type of magic is also the perfect ice-breaker for those who may not know each other yet, as this is probably the first time some of the family members will have ever met.
– During the meal
It is possible for Steven to entertain your guests before, after or during the meal at their table, performing his amazing table magic for everyone to see. The entertainment begins during the meal as Steven visits each table working in between courses. He will astonish you and your guests with his close-up magic until the start of the speeches or the coffee is served.
One venue magic works well during the meal at is The Lochside House Hotelin New Cumnock. The reason magic works great at Lochside during the meal (also works perfect during the photos in the pre drinks area). Is due to the layout of the room and how the venue operate. Steven often works with the banqueting staff in the Lochview suite approaching tables while they wait for the next course to be served. Steven of course will NEVER perform while people are eating. If during the performance the food starts to arrive Steven will stop and disappear once the food is done and cleared away he will come back and finish right from where he left off.
– During the evening reception
Another great time for Steven to “work his magic” is at the start of the evening reception as the guests begin to arrive for an hour or two before people start there ‘horrific dancing’. This is the perfect time as the music isn’t yet under way and people may be standing around awkwardly and looking for someone they know to chat to. Close-up magic is the perfect way to break the ice and to get people who wouldn`t normally speak to each other chatting.
Steven has found that performing at the evening reception works ideal at The Gailes Hotel in Irvine. Just after the meal at the evening turn around while the tables are being cleared and the room is reset for the first dance your guests will filter through to the Langavulin suite to the Talisker bar and outside to the patio area. Steven will work with the team at the hotel to ensure your guests are entertained right till the first dance. Just before the first dance takes place Steven will pull you aside and perform an extra special trick for you and your new husband/wife.
Close-up wedding magic doesn’t really work that well if you are planning on having a loud DJ at the same time. However Steven does have a very unique package (only person in Scotland offering this package and product) that will work for this environment. A lot of close up magic relies on interaction from the audience and your guests need to hear what the magician is saying to fully appreciate what is happening.
We really hope this has gave you the idea that close up magic will work in at any point during your wedding. If the venue you have booked isn’t mentioned above feel free to speak to Steven about your venue. Steven has performed at over 100 venues in Ayrshire, just under 150 in Glasgow and the rest of Scotland and 20 worldwide, meaning there is a very high chance has performed at the venue you have booked.
